Ormskirk WE Whites v FCFC Oranges U8’s Boys.
The old cliche certainly applied today, a game of 2 halves. The start of the Championship division campaign for The Oranges saw them fall short against a strong opponent. Prior to the match the opposition manager stated how good his team was, however he had requested to remain in the middle tier for ‘development’ purposes. OK, I thought, we’ll give you a go. And that we did - bundles of energy from our depleted team saw an excellent effort in the first half, trailing by a single goal by the break. Once again, Ethan Millhouse was absolutely outstanding in goal, literally making 5 top drawer saves to keep it at 0-1.
A change of keeper at H/T, Zak for Ethan, and we quickly got ourselves back in, a well directed low drive from Ethan grabbing the equaliser. With no subs available, and the other side making the most of all 4 subs they had, the difference soon told. The lads battled hard and were unlucky not to get a couple of consolation goals, Ethan clipping the post with a thunderous drive being one. Ethan was given MOTM for a superb effort in net, coupled with a great finish 2nd half!
With focus & energy levels the main difference in the end, Ethan, Beau, Bobby, Aiden & Zak should all be mightily proud of the fight they put up, particularly first half. Onwards & upwards, back to the Training ground before the next game, well done boys - Coach’s Al & Matt were proud of all of you today!!!
