Match report for FCFC U8 blacks The team arrived excited for there second match in the Hightown league in the blazing sun. We had been focusing on dribbling skills and positioning for our Friday evening training. The game started with Ormskirk testing our defence with plenty of shots peppering the goal. Thanks to Seb’s goal keeper skills and Jacks tackles we were able to prevent most of the attacks and keep the score line relatively low. Fortunately we were able to counter with two shots on target from Dillon but Ormskirk’s defence appeared to close us down making the first half goalless for FCFC blacks. A change of tactics for the second half paid off as Dillon sent a long ball over from defence to Jack who then only had the keeper to beat. A powerful shot knocked the keeper flat and as the ball rolled in front of the goal Ethan was in the right place at the right time to tap it into the net. The match continued with long balls rocketing over to the Ormskirk half allowing FCFC to gain more control over the game. This also took some of the pressure off Wojtek who had been saving shot after shot from Ormskirk. There was plenty of energy in the midfield from Harry and Seb who continued to battle winning challenge after challenge. The game finished on a high with Dillon returning to attack torpedoing the ball past the Ormskirk defence to smash into the post. We then ended with a team talk taking the positives on board and aim to continue working on our dribbling skills and shooting for next week. Man of the match goes to Jack Wiles for a solid defence and a great assist up front.
